Call Me Help

Welcome to the digital shell of Scott Hagerman my home on the web. I’m a Christian retired über-geek that loves God, his wife Lara and three kids; Alex, Kitiara and Katrina. Other than computers and all things electronic, I like to photograph wildlife & landscapes in Western Montana. I am also a collector with an interest in acquiring and repairing all kinds of knives.

What’s with turtlepower.net & turtles?

Turtles are frequently depicted as easygoing, patient, and wise creatures, with a long lifespan, slow but steady movement, sturdiness, and wrinkled appearance. Well I’m easygoing, patient, and getting wiser every day. With three kids and a wonderful wife I hope to live a long life. I tend to work in a slow and meticulous way. Measure twice, cut once is my motto and you’ll beat the hare every time...OK, not every time, so I’m not always the fastest, but I try to make sure my time is well spent. As for the wrinkled appearance I guess I’m working on that day by day.

What’s with binarybytes.net & two domain names for one web site?

Well, Binary Bytes was a computer business that I owned and operated and have retired for medical reasons. Wanting to keep my e-mail address as well as a web site that anyone could find as a way to contact me if needed. I wanted to make sure that I am easy to find so I can cover any warranty issues that may arise. So I pointed both domain names at this site and that’s that.

The Point

What’s a Binary?

Pertaining to a number system that has just two unique digits. Computers are based on the binary numbering system, which consists of just two unique numbers, 0 and 1.

What’s a Byte?

Abbreviation for binary term, a unit of storage capable of holding a single character. On almost all modern computers, a byte is equal to 8 bits. A bit is the easiest concept in all of math. It’s something that is either on or off.
